About this event

Step into the world of wild foods and discover the abundance hidden in plain sight during our Foraging Talk & Walk at Compton Gardens & Arboretum!

Join Timothy Hammer, owner of Homegrown Native Foods, as you explore the edible, useful, and fascinating native plants that can be found in NWA. Learn about seasonal foraging, what to look for in the landscape, and how trees like maple, sycamore, and black walnut can be tapped for sap and boiled down into sweet homemade syrups.

Head out for a guided stroll through the arboretum and let foraging lead the way. This walk is all about noticing what nature has to offer right here in Northwest Arkansas, sharpening our observation skills, and discovering the edible landscape all around us.
