  • Buddy Coleman, founder of ERC and Rausch Coleman Homes, died at 89. His firm built over 75,000 homes + sold for over $1 billion recently, and a service will be held at 11 a.m. Jan. 21 at Cross Church in Springdale.  NWA Business Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fayetteville Mardi Gras festivities run from Feb. 14-17 on Dickson Street, beginning with the Fat Saturday Parade of Fools at 2 p.m. on Feb. 14 and ending with the Fat Tuesday Pub & Grub Crawl; float and costume workshops are scheduled for Jan. 15 and Jan. 22, with benefits for Canopy NWA.  Fayetteville Flyer

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission released a new conservation license plate featuring a painted bunting today, available from revenue offices and online through the Department of Finance and Administration. The 35-dollar plate supports conservation programs that have raised over 21 million dollars since 2000 and was designed by Greta James.  Fayetteville Flyer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Two west Fayetteville streets now have new names after the city changed them in January—Garden Avenue and Reflection Street, replacing Plantation Avenue and Chattel Street to remove symbols of slavery.  Fayetteville Flyer
