- ➤ At St. James Missionary Baptist Church, the annual MLK service featured a panel discussion on mental health, education + civic engagement to address current community challenges. - ➤ Buffalo River Aviation partnered with Make-A-Wish to send Leo and his family on a private jet flight from Bentonville to Orlando (with help from Jet Tech Charters). The trip relieved the family from daily medical challenges, took place yesterday, and they will return next weekend. 5 News
- ➤ On Saturday, the NWA MLK Council partnered with Alpha Phi Alpha to serve hot meals and free blood pressure & HIV screenings at M&N Augustine Foundation in Fayetteville for MLK Day events. Volunteers from local schools and churches prepared meals from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the unhoused community. 4029 News

- ➤ Amir Mani, a new assistant professor in the Department of Animal Science at the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station, studies gut health & antibiotic resistance using big data analysis and next-generation probiotics after a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Chicago. - ➤ Coalition group For AR Kids gathered signatures Sunday at several NW Arkansas sites to petition against the LEARNS Act and push for an education rights amendment on the ballot. - ➤ The Alice Walton School of Medicine in Bentonville hired three assistant deans as it launched its first year, welcoming an inaugural class of 48 students from 19 states in October. - ➤ Defensive lineman Trajen Odom, a transfer from Ohio State, committed to join Arkansas football on Sunday, according to a report.
