- ➤ Yesterday, the Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter rebranded as EverHope in Highfill and expanded its services to include EverHope Foster Care plus a pilot education program aimed at supporting children in crisis statewide. - ➤ Fayetteville-based Startup Junkie Consulting LLC is teaming with the Arkansas Economic Development Commission to launch a no-cost 24-week business building program for Arkansas companies with $100K to $10M in revenue. - ➤ Fayetteville invites experienced artists to apply for a new 105-foot mural on Nelson Hackett Boulevard that must reflect themes of movement, justice, + connection; submissions are due Tuesday, Feb. 10, with the chosen artist expected to finish by June 15. Fayetteville Flyer
- ➤ Chefs Matthew Cooper of Conifer in Bentonville, Jason Paul of Heirloom at The 1907 in Rogers, and Rogers-based Onyx Coffee Lab were named James Beard Awards semifinalists on Jan. 21. Nominees will be announced on March 31, with the ceremony scheduled for June 13-15 in Chicago. NWA Business Journal
- ➤ The Pryor Center launched a project to collect and preserve oral histories of Arkansas veterans from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Led by former journalist Amy Schlesing, the project will record stories in phases, starting with the Arkansas National Guard’s 39th Infantry Brigade. Arkansas Times

- ➤ Northwest Arkansas Community College saw a slight enrollment bump to 8,414 students for academic credit on the 11th day of classes Tuesday, and it enrolled 3,412 high school students in concurrent credit classes + 5,261 students in digital learning, a record since covid-19, according to a news release. - ➤ Apple Seeds Teaching Farm announced today a plan to create two teaching farms—one in Northwest and one in Central Arkansas—to meet rising school demand for hands-on food education and improve local food access. Fayetteville Flyer
- ➤ The University of Arkansas Board of Trustees approved Alicia D. Corder as the new director of the Criminal Justice Institute—retired FBI special agent with nearly 23 years of service—and she will assume the role on April 1 replacing the interim director. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
