  • University of Arkansas’ Walton College and Plug and Play are hosting the 2026 Supply Chain Trends and Expo event on Wednesday, April 22, from 1 to 6 p.m. in Bentonville at the Heartland Whole Health Institute; the free event features a keynote, fireside chats and panel discussions.  University of Arkansas
  • Tyson Foods awarded stock shares as annual compensation to 12 non-employee board directors and the lead director at a Springdale shareholder meeting on Feb. 9 — most directors received shares valued at about $190,000 while the lead director received shares worth $245,000.  NWA Business Journal

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown Fayetteville welcomes The IRiS Art Haus and Supply Co at 95 S Church Ave, a new shop selling art supplies and hosting classes. It is open weekdays and weekends — locals can shop, learn and explore.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • The Northwest Arkansas Gem & Mineral Society will host its gem, mineral and jewelry show from April 18-19 in Bentonville at the NW Arkansas Armed Forces Reserve Center, featuring 20 vendors, live demonstrations, food trucks, door prizes and a $5 donation entry with free admission for children under 10.  NWA Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Korean for Travelers is an eight-week course taught by Professor Sung Hye Yang that covers beginner Korean for travel, including ordering food and asking for directions. The class meets Wednesdays from 3 — 4:40 p.m. from March 4 to May 8 in GRAD 115.  University of Arkansas
  • The Wally Cordes Teaching and Faculty Support Center is accepting applications for a three-year co-director role open to all full-time faculty; submissions are due by 5 p.m. Friday, March 13 (the position includes extra compensation, a course buyout option or summer funds).  University of Arkansas
  • Three U of A College of Engineering students earned honors for turning internships into real-world efficiency solutions at local companies + their achievements highlight strong ties between classroom learning and Fayetteville's growing STEM community.  University of Arkansas

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Northwest Arkansas Land Trust completed a three-year project to permanently protect 692 acres in the Beaver Lake watershed using a $780,953 grant and matching funds, guarding streams and forests that provide clean water to over 400,000 people across Washington and Madison counties.  NWA Business Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • Researchers at the U of A developed an AI tool that detects masked hypertension — a condition when blood pressure appears normal at the doctor’s office — with 83% accuracy using data from a South African study. The tool will train on new data to improve diagnosis for patients.  University of Arkansas
  • Senior honors student Burgin Rome and professor Shari Moxley are hosting Youth Mental Health First Aid training for U of A students on March 9-10, offered free with sessions from 5-7:30 p.m. in room 108 (Home Economics Building); participants must complete two hours of online prework before training.  University of Arkansas

  • No. 21 Arkansas met LSU yesterday at Pete Maravich Assembly Center at 8 p.m. on SEC Network as nearly every scholarship player got minutes; star players Knox and Wagner—one with a knee injury and one with an ankle injury—were sidelined and Billy Richmond III filled the wing spot.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • Alma's girls ended a 17-game losing streak against Greenwood on Tuesday at Charles B. Dyer Airedale Arena; the win came even as Greenwood's Kylah Pearcy scored 58 points.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
