- ➤ The U of A Department of Animal Science will host Boots, Brews and BBQ on March 13 and 14 at the Pauline Whitaker Animal Science Center—pitmasters from near and far will vie for the state barbecue title as ticket proceeds support student programs. University of Arkansas
- ➤ The Orchid Society of the Ozarks will host its 15th annual Orchid Show and Sale from March 6 to March 8 at the Pauline Whitaker Equine Center on the U of A campus. Growers from five states will display blooming orchids and offer free classes on orchid care. University of Arkansas

- ➤ David Rand, a professor of natural history at Brown University, will explain how mitochondrial and nuclear genes interact to shape energy traits in a seminar hosted at CHEM 0144 on Feb. 25 (12:55 p.m.).
