EDUCATION NEWS

  • Faculty at the University may apply to the Open Educational Resources Course Materials Conversion Program to earn extra compensation by adapting or creating course materials. Applications are accepted through Monday, Mar. 16, with awards of $4,500 for adapting materials (or $7,500 for creating them).  University of Arkansas
  • The University of Arkansas School of Law will host the 2026 Hartman Hotz Lecture on The Role of Higher Education in Democracy at 3 p.m. Monday, Mar. 30 in the E.J. Ball Courtroom (a reception will follow and the lecture is free and open to the public).  University of Arkansas
  • Former Razorback and NFL center Travis Swanson now serves on the Student Affairs Executive Leadership Board and recently visited campus to speak with students — sharing lessons on resilience and planning for life after football.   • Honors College is launching an interdisciplinary fall term offering courses on astrobiology, dermatology history, and college sports with sessions held on campus and via Zoom; some courses require applications while others are open to all honors students.  University of Arkansas
  • Caitlin Swanson, a fourth-year interior architecture student at the Fay Jones School, earned a $30,000 Angelo Donghia Scholarship for her site-driven design of a teen mental wellness center along the Razorback Greenway (near Wilson Park), inspired by Fayetteville’s local trail system.  University of Arkansas

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fayetteville’s Urban Forestry division has relaunched its eighth invasive plant bounty program, letting residents remove invasive species and submit photographs+earn a free native tree or shrub. They may pick up their plant from April 6 to 9 at Parks Operations after removal between Feb. 24 to March 20.  Fayetteville Flyer
