  • Cynthia Crowder returned to her rebuilt Hughmount Village home last month after her home was heavily damaged by an Easter tornado in 2025, which forced her family to move three times. Everyday sounds (like a car wash) bring back memories and have helped neighbors grow closer.  4029 News

  • Benny’s Bagels opened today on Leverett Ave at a renovated former pizza spot and offers a menu with 10 bagel types + house-made cream cheese spreads along with coffee. EDUCATION NEWS

  • The U of A is offering a fall Honors College Signature Seminar titled Stress & Its Consequences where professor Grant Shields will teach about the science of stress and coping strategies.   • U of A has launched the new MUSiC facility where researchers, students and industry partners design and test the next-generation silicon carbide semiconductors.   • Marlon Blackwell retired from his role as Distinguished Professor at the U of A’s Fay Jones School on June 30 after a 33-year career that shaped the program; he plans to expand his Fayetteville-based practice and mentor students with occasional lectures.  University of Arkansas
  • U of A collected over 2,000 responses in its fall 2025 employee engagement survey, finding strong coworker and manager relationships among 13 key areas. Chancellor Charles Robinson (who leads the university) said vice chancellors will develop action plans after reviewing results, with additional details to be shared later this year.  University of Arkansas
  • University of Arkansas researchers developed ChicGrasp, a dual jaw robotic gripper that uses imitation learning to grip chicken carcasses in poultry plants. The system has an 81% success rate but takes 38 seconds per cycle — further refinements are needed before industrial use.  University of Arkansas

  • The Fayetteville Planning Commission postponed the review of the Ramay Junior High School plan because required public notifications to nearby renters were not completed; discussion will resume on March 23 to consider a 70,000-square-foot campus planned east of College Avenue near Poplar Street.  Fayetteville Flyer
