EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Honors College will offer two retro reading courses in fall 2025—one to study the Harry Potter series and the other to learn about music with composers like Beethoven and Mozart. Chelsea Hodge will lead the literature course while Alan Gosman will guide the music class—giving students from all majors a way to see how art shapes our world.  University of Arkansas
  • A program at Folsom Elementary School has helped fathers get more involved in school for nearly eight years. School counselor Karla Long is talking with leaders at other schools—this effort may start new All Pro Dad chapters soon.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Fayetteville — Lincoln and other small rural school districts in Northwest Arkansas are trying a four-day school week to serve students better.   • The SOOIE executive board for the 2025-26 school year is accepting applications on Hogsync until 11:59 p.m. on April 1 to fill roles that help student organizations plan events and access campus resources—applicants are encouraged to review available positions and requirements.  University of Arkansas
  • The Department of World Languages, Literatures and Cultures will hold informational sessions—starting Monday March 17 at The CORD—to share details on summer and fall courses as well as study abroad programs. Sessions run from March 17 to 19 and from April 1 to 3—offering cultural snacks and handouts for attending students.  University of Arkansas
  • More than 400 speech-language professionals met at the Fayetteville Public Library for the annual conference on communication disorders, where expert Jennie Bjorem showed practical ways to assess and treat Childhood Apraxia of Speech. Local clinicians and students left the event with new strategies to use in therapy—helping them improve care for young clients.  University of Arkansas
  • Current U of A students can register for 2025 summer and May intersession courses during the normal registration period; summer sessions are set to begin May 27 with 10-week, eight-week and the first five-week tracks and a 10-day intersession from May 12 to 23—the second five-week session will start on June 30.  University of Arkansas

  • The Arkansas Razorbacks lost 80-83 to the Ole Miss Rebels on Thursday in Music City — a final three-pointer by Ole Miss senior guard Sean Pedulla ended a close game — and secured a bid to the NCAA March Madness tournament despite giving up 15 turnovers.  The Arkansas Traveler
  • Razorback baseball’s eighth annual Junior RBI Girl Day will happen on Sunday, April 6, before the Hogs take on Missouri at 2 p.m. Children from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade can join a clinical session and pregame performance at Baum-Walker Stadium—registration costs $30 and tickets must be bought separately.  University of Arkansas
