CULTURE NEWS

  • Def Leppard will begin their summer tour at the Walmart AMP in Rogers on Monday, June 23 — the show will start at 6:30 p.m. with music at 8 p.m. Tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 21 — prices range from $69.50 to $399.50.  5 News

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Bentonville-based Heartland Forward released a report on Monday, March 17 showing that adding 275 medical residents over six years will bring $465 million in economic activity and help ease a doctor shortage. The study found that each new resident adds $482,000 a year — a cost-effective boost to the state’s health care system.  NWA Business Journal

  • On March 19th to 20th, the Latin American and Latino Studies Program will hold a two-day conference on Latinas/os and the U.S. South at Arkansas Union. The event will include panels with University of Arkansas faculty and off-campus participants and a keynote lecture by historian Cecilia Marquez from Duke University.  University of Arkansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fayetteville officials are holding public meetings from March 17 through March 21 — a City Council meeting is held today at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall Room 219 via Zoom and additional sessions involve the Housing Task Force, Arts Council and Black Heritage Preservation Commission.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • Officials said the Arkansas jobless rate rose to 3.6% in December after revisions increased earlier estimates, though it remains near historic lows. The U.S. rate dropped from 4.1% in December to 4% in January—highlighting a shift in economic trends.  Arkansas Times

  • Arkansas earned a No. 10 seed in the West Region and will face No. 7 seed Kansas in the first round on Thursday at 6:10 p.m. in Providence.
