  • As of 2 p.m. today, over 25,000 customers are without power statewide — with 1,566 in Benton, 458 in Washington, 379 in Madison, 146 in Crawford, 1,642 in Sebastian, 559 in Franklin, 93 in Johnson, 185 in Carroll and 56 in Logan counties.  4029 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The School District will spend nearly $24 million on renovations and additions at John L Colbert Middle School — the building will be converted to a junior high when the work is complete.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Tuesday the Fayetteville City Council made minor tweaks to a measure that would require landlords to fully disclose rental fees—council left it on second reading for further review. The ordinance will appear on the agenda for April 1 as officials plan additional amendments to address concerns from property managers.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • Earlier this week, both the Northwest Arkansas National Airport board and the Highfill City Council approved settlement agreements related to the airport’s deannexation—yet they remain at odds over whether the verbal and written terms are identical.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The Fayetteville Housing Crisis Task Force met Wednesday night for its third meeting this year — created in 2024 to push the city's housing agenda — as the group worked with Mayor Molly Rawn to explore improvements in student and affordable housing. Co-chair Jessica Lewallen said discussions with the mayor will shape the task force's future role.  4029 News
  • The Fayetteville City Council approved 18 appointments to 10 boards and committees on Tuesday, March 18. Most selections came from the Nominating Committee—comprised of one council member from each ward and recommended by the mayor—and include roles on the A&P, Black Heritage Preservation, Youth Advisory, and Planning Commissions.  Fayetteville Flyer

  • This summer, the Marshall Islands soccer team will play in its first international tournament on the campus of John Brown University from August 11 through 17; organizers chose Northwest Arkansas (which has a large Marshallese community) to host the 2025 Outrigger Cup and help build the team.  Arkansas Times
  • Lebanese forward Karim Rtail committed to coach John Calipari and will join the Razorbacks for the 2025-26 season after playing professionally in Lithuania — he is the fourth recruit in the class and chose Arkansas over offers from Penn State, SMU and Butler.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
