EDUCATION NEWS

  • The U of A Honors College invites the campus and community to attend a Classics Symposium on April 2 from 5:15—7 p.m. in Gear 26 at Gearhart Hall to learn how ancient studies influence modern ideas. Retiring professor Daniel Levine and a panel of U of A faculty and alumni will lead discussions that highlight this lasting impact.  University of Arkansas
  • Five U of A students went to the Eta Sigma Phi Convention at St. Olaf College in Minnesota with professor Daniel Levine. Sophomore Charis Morasch won a Latin contest and helped Kailee Rowe get elected national treasurer—Rowe will travel to a San Francisco convention in January 2026 while the team also competed in a quiz and received travel funding.  University of Arkansas
  • The University of Arkansas will expand its Master of Science in supply chain management program to the Dallas area in fall 2025—offering a part-time format with all coursework online and required in-person immersion weekends—and give working professionals the chance to build skills in logistics and supply chain leadership.  University of Arkansas
  • The University of Arkansas is launching live online Microsoft training courses through its Global Campus Professional and Workforce Development division to build skills in Excel and Power BI—Excel classes are set for March 28, April 25, and June 6 while the Power BI course will run over three Friday sessions from April 18 to May 2, and participants earn a certificate of completion. University students, faculty, staff, and alumni can receive a 10% discount with a valid code, although space is limited.  University of Arkansas
  • The U of A has been awarded $750,000 from the Arkansas Department of Higher Education to launch the HIRED program — which will add two-year colleges to its data science courses and create stackable certificates; over 1,000 students will be trained to meet growing industry needs. Karl Schubert will lead the effort as the state works to boost its data science workforce.  University of Arkansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Rep. Steve Womack said in an interview on Sunday, March 23 that the F-35 pilot training mission at Ebbing Air Base remains on secure footing despite policy shifts while noting that funding for the academic training center still needs a solution. He added that although he welcomes private sector advice on government efficiency and DOGE cuts at the Veterans Administration, final decisions will come from agency leaders and Congress—ensuring that both the mission and veterans’ care are protected.  NWA Business Journal

HEALTH NEWS

  • AIMRC pilot project program will offer up to $50,000 for faculty research on cell and tissue metabolism in biomedical applications—proposals must be submitted by March 31st at 11:59 p.m., and awards will be made from July 1st to May 15th, 2026.  University of Arkansas

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Arkansas Razorbacks will host the annual Red-White Football Game at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium with free admission and a full schedule of activities. Fans can enjoy HogTown from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.—featuring live music, food vendors, Sunrise Yoga at 8 a.m., a classic car and truck show, and a post-game autograph session on the north concourse.  University of Arkansas
