COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Fayetteville Public Library Foundation will host its third annual Reading the Greens mini golf fundraiser at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 12 at the Fayetteville Public Library. Teams of four will compete on an 18 hole course with three special challenge holes—food, drinks and DJ entertainment will also be provided as all proceeds benefit the foundation.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • The City of Fayetteville will host a blood drive on April 10 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Town Center to honor Officer Stephen Carr — a police officer killed in the line of duty in 2019. The event will be run in partnership with the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks.  City of Fayetteville

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Traffic on I-49 slowed near exit 67 in Fayetteville at 8:20 a.m. after three vehicles crashed on the southbound lanes and stalled vehicles blocked the road—strong storms moving in may bring an isolated tornado and damaging wind gust later.  4029 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On April 2, the University of Arkansas held a Cruise to Campus with free drinks and a career fair, and today it hosts an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month event, an outdoor fest and a jazz dance lesson. Later this week, the university will run a 24-hour hackathon, cultural game night, swing dance event, jazz concert and spring carnival—offering a busy mix of campus programs.  The Arkansas Traveler
  • The U of A Office for Faculty Affairs will host events, giveaways and discounts for Faculty Appreciation Week from April 7 to April 11—faculty will enjoy free coffee, snacks, meet-and-greet sessions and special deals on Razorback Baseball and Softball tickets.   • Professor William F. McComas received the 2025 SEC Faculty Achievement Award for science education at U of A—he will be honored during Faculty Appreciation Week at the Provost’s Faculty Recognition Reception on April 9 at the David W. Mullins Library.  University of Arkansas
  • The Amplify ticket, which ran unopposed, was elected to UA’s Associated Student Government for 2025–26 with Amanda Hux as president, Laney Kellybrew as vice president, Brylan Cole as secretary and Alexandria May as treasurer—all seniors. They plan to improve safety by adding a Title IX liaison, build community by refreshing outreach and the ASG newsletter, and increase transparency by updating the budget monthly.  The Arkansas Traveler
