- ➤ Wes Whitmore, the longtime owner of Wes’ Bar-B-Q Burger Plus at 14 S University Ave, died on April 2 after battling heart disease, and his family will keep the restaurant open to honor his legacy + a celebration is scheduled for Saturday at Beard’s Funeral Chapel. Fayetteville Flyer

- ➤ An exhibit called Silent Zone is now on display at a small basement gallery just off downtown square, showcasing the cinematically eerie artwork of Memphis artist Michael (he prefers to be called Michael) for local art lovers. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ The College of Education and Health Professions has named its 2026 outstanding faculty, recognizing 10 winners in awards that celebrate excellence in teaching, research and service. They will be honored at the all-college meeting on May 1. University of Arkansas
- ➤ The U of A School of Law will host a reception at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 21 in the Six Pioneers Room to honor retiring professors Carl Circo and Sharon Foster for more than 20 years of service + the event welcomes colleagues, students and alumni. University of Arkansas
- ➤ Jack Gamble, a junior studying finance and real estate, secured winter and summer internships with Chicago Title and CBRE after a chance meeting at the Office of Entrepreneurship & Innovation in Fayetteville, and he now urges freshmen to attend campus events to unlock future opportunities. - ➤ Kathryn Totty, a third-year student at the U of A School of Law, won first place at the Judicial Clerkship Opinion Writing Conference hosted at the Columbus School of Law. She will begin a one-year clerkship with Judge Bobby E. Shepherd after graduating in May. University of Arkansas
- ➤ On May 2, the Washington Elementary PTO will host its annual self-guided Tour of Homes at seven historic Fayetteville sites, including Washington Elementary School. Tickets cost $25 until April 26 and $30 afterward, with proceeds benefiting school programs. Fayetteville Flyer

- ➤ Fayetteville has announced scheduled water conservation periods next week to support planned improvements at the Beaver Water District.
