CULTURE NEWS

  • Famous street artist Leon Keer from the Netherlands was picked by the city’s Parks, Natural Resources and Cultural Affairs Department and AGAR to design a new mural on the West Avenue Parking Deck in the Dickson Street Entertainment District. The mural uses toy cars to create a fun art piece and will begin painting in late May this spring.  City of Fayetteville

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Willard and Pat Walker Charitable Foundation will donate $5 million to support UA’s Land of Opportunity Scholarship and join the group of donors who give at least $1 million—boosting a campaign that raised 64% of its goal and more than $127.26 million in pledges as of April 1. The donation will improve education access for students across all 75 counties and continues the foundation’s long legacy at UA.  NWA Business Journal
  • Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design will host Earth Week events on Monday and Tuesday in Vol Walker Hall and the Arkansas Union—featuring lectures and student presentations on sustainability. Professor Marty Matlock will speak at 4:30 p.m. Monday and graduating sustainability students will show their capstone projects on Tuesday, with playwright Carson Kreitzer giving her talk at 1:15 p.m.  University of Arkansas
  • Chuck Todd, the longtime host of NBC's Meet the Press and a winner of several Emmy Awards, spoke at UA-Fayetteville on April 16 about journalism challenges and the political climate. HEALTH NEWS

  • A new health and wellness vending machine is now open at the southeast entrance of the Pat Walker Health Center on the University of Arkansas campus, offering free Narcan & fentanyl prevention kits via a short voucher process available 24/7 to anyone on campus. The machine is part of Attorney General Tim Griffin's One Pill Can Kill initiative launched in October 2024 to help combat the opioid crisis.  4029 News

  • South Carolina transfer forward Nick Pringle signed with the Arkansas men’s basketball team after an easy decision motivated by a strong connection with Coach Calipari and his staff—he visited Fayetteville on Wednesday and left on Thursday and now looks forward to leading the Razorbacks with his veteran skills.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
