ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • One person is in hospital after a vehicle hit a pedestrian on North College Ave. between Main and Zion in Fayetteville—police said the victim was struck in the roadway and taken to Washington Regional Medical Center.  4029 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fayetteville is planning two new junior high campuses with unique designs to update the district's education system. The Ramay campus near College Avenue will begin construction in summer 2026 and is expected to open by the 2028 school year plus the Woodland campus near Crossover Road and Joyce Boulevard will start construction in summer 2025 and open in fall 2027.  Fayetteville Flyer

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fayetteville property owners and businesses can apply for the Stormwater Credit Program—designed to lower monthly stormwater utility fees by rewarding green projects like bioswales and retention ponds. The program follows the city council's December vote, and the new fees will begin in August.  City of Fayetteville
  • The City of Fayetteville was selected to join the Southern Cities Economic Initiative and will receive a $15,000 grant to pilot its Fayetteville Futures initiative in partnership with Circles NWA — an effort designed to improve local economic mobility. The grant will be presented to City Council for approval, and SCEI’s initial planning will run through Oct. 31 — setting the stage for further community-driven strategies.  City of Fayetteville
  • Today the Arkansas Department of Health is opening six offices—two in Little Rock, one in Fayetteville, one in Jonesboro, one in Texarkana and one in Monticello—from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help residents obtain birth certificates needed for a Real ID. Residents must show a valid driver’s license and pay a $12 fee to get a certificate as they upgrade their traditional license when changes take effect on May 7 while the $10 Real ID fee has been waived until July 31 under Gov. Sanders’ executive order.  Arkansas Times
  • The state health department has extended Saturday hours at select health units in Little Rock, Fayetteville, Jonesboro, Texarkana, and Monticello to issue certified birth certificates for those needing them for REAL IDs after May 7. Driver license offices in these cities will be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to help residents obtain their REAL IDs.  Fayetteville Flyer

  • The No. 5 Razorbacks aim to break a 13-year series win drought in Florida as they play the Gators in Gainesville on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at noon — a win is key for bolstering their SEC title hopes.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • Fayetteville's girls soccer team beat Rogers Heritage 6-0 in 6A-West play on Friday at Harmon Field, with five players scoring as they improved their record (11-0-1). Fayetteville's boys soccer team tied 1-1 with Rogers Heritage in a match where both teams scored and remained locked in the league standings (tied at 15 points).  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Yesterday, University of Arkansas track athletes set three meet records at John McDonnell Field as they prepared for the SEC Outdoor Championships—Sanu Jallow-Lockhart ran 2:00.51 in the women’s 800, Jordan Anthony clocked 20.36 in the men’s 200 and the men’s 400 relay team finished in 38.97.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
