COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Office for Sustainability is hosting its spring Bicycle Roundup to collect unwanted bikes for the U of A Bicycle Library that offers affordable transportation for students, staff, and faculty. Drop-offs are accepted at 238 N. Harmon Ave. during office hours, while on-campus pick-ups can be arranged by email.  University of Arkansas
  • U of A staff begin Staff Appreciation Week on May 11 with discounts at University Recreation and Hog Heaven plus a chance to win Razorback football tickets. Tuesday offers donuts in the Law School atrium and a staff night out at Marley's Pizzeria, with a picnic on Wednesday at Food Hall.  University of Arkansas

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A U of A mechanical engineering team won second place in the Endurance Race and third overall at the national e-HPVC competition in Dallas. The team overcame a major mechanical malfunction (sourcing replacement parts and borrowing a welder) during its senior capstone project.  University of Arkansas
  • The U of A will launch a new 100 percent online master’s degree in Outdoor Recreation and Sport Tourism this fall (offering hands-on practicum and capstone projects to build leadership skills for emerging careers in the outdoor recreation and tourism economy).  University of Arkansas
  • University of Arkansas juniors were named Goldwater, Truman, and Udall Scholars — awards that honor excellence in research, public service, and leadership — as the university continues its tradition of recognizing student achievement. Amie Donathan, Muskan Taori, and Claire Walker plan to advance their fields through study and service.  University of Arkansas
  • Peter MacKeith, dean at the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design, received the 2026 Champion of Construction Award at a ceremony held April 23 at Chenal Country Club, honoring his leadership and vision in advancing local construction. His work has strengthened ties between education and industry in Arkansas.  University of Arkansas
  • Sam Vinson is set to graduate this May from the U of A after completing two majors (biological engineering and Spanish), three minors, and a first-author publication accepted on Feb. 3 in a peer-reviewed journal. He also finished a Walmart internship and will start another this summer in Lancaster.  University of Arkansas

HEALTH NEWS

  • The U of A Speech and Hearing Clinic will accept pediatric and adult referrals for a summer session running May 26 through July 30 at the Epley Center for Health Professions on Razorback Road (just north of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium) to offer speech, language and hearing services.  University of Arkansas

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Springfield Cardinals won a close 7-6 game against the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Sunday at Arvest Ballpark, ending the Naturals’ five-game winning streak and breaking Springfield’s seven-game losing streak with a key defensive play late in the game.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
