  • The Walker Park Splash Pad and Gulley Park Interactive Fountain will open for the summer season on Saturday, May 10 and run daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Sept. 21—visitors can enjoy free water play while following posted rules.  City of Fayetteville

CRIME NEWS

  • Washington County prosecutors said Richard Brian Copeland, 55, who was released on bond after placing an ink pen camera in a women's restroom at Sassafras Springs Winery for about 30 minutes, is suspected of recording victims in other bathrooms from hard drives found at his home—investigators are working to identify additional victims.  4029 News

  • Denise and Rich Lanuti will host a Mother’s Day open studio show on May 9 and 10 at their glass studio on 623 E. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Twenty-seven graduate students joined the RISE Program at the University of Arkansas last fall to visit companies, earn professional certifications, and take part in community events. The program—funded by a $150,000 gift from the Hearst Foundations—helped first-generation students build skills and will open applications for next year in August.  University of Arkansas

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Fayetteville saw more new houses built in 2023 and 2024, but rising rents made these homes too expensive for many residents. City Council discussed measures on today's agenda—such as code changes and faster inspections—to boost affordable housing options.  Fayetteville Flyer

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arkansas swept Texas on Saturday at Baum-Walker Stadium with a 13-8 win — the victory was the first sweep over the Longhorns and first win against a top-ranked team since 2001. The Razorbacks reached 40 wins this season and will face LSU in Baton Rouge on Friday.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • The Arkansas Razorbacks softball team won 6 to 0 over LSU and earned a 5-seed with a first round bye in the SEC tournament after regular season play ended. The team will face the winner of the Kentucky and Georgia game on May 7 at 1:00 p.m. on SEC Network.  5 News
