CULTURE NEWS

  • Jeff Nichols’ film King Snake, now in production in Arkansas, has had its U.S. rights acquired by Neon; the film stars Margaret Qualley, Michael Shannon, and Drew Starkey and is using local casting calls from The Agency Inc. (Little Rock) to fill diverse roles.  Arkansas Times
  • Artistree Pottery in Fayetteville offers a creative space for all skill levels to paint, fire, and pick up pottery in about a week. Open since September 2025, the studio is available 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.  5 News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • U.S. Rep. Steve Womack urged UA Fayetteville graduates Friday to give their best and build bridges amid community divisions at Bud Walton Arena. Over 6,500 students will be graduating this weekend from various UA colleges.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Friday provided a warm start with evening showers in NWA and the River Valley; today’s warm and breezy conditions will give way to showers tonight with Sunday set for intermittent storms. The Storm Prediction Center puts the area at a marginal severe weather risk.  4029 News
  • A new 15.5-mile water trail opens on the Illinois River from Chamber Springs to WOKA Whitewater Park as the state's first water trail crossing state lines. Partners celebrated at Siloam Springs Kayak Park and DOT will add an access site at Highway 59 when the bridge is rebuilt in 2027.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • A four-story, 211-unit luxury apartment complex opened south of the Northwest Arkansas Mall at 682 E. Georgetowne Square Drive. The George (formerly The Claude) is the first of over $100 million wellness developments and offers a pool, fitness center, yoga rooms, and spa amenities.  NWA Business Journal

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arkansas baseball infielder Carter Rutenbar injured his nose diving for a grounder during a 12-2 win over Oklahoma on Friday. He passed concussion protocol before being replaced, and doctors will check him to decide if he will play again tomorrow.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The University of Arkansas cut its tennis programs this season amid rising revenue challenges as college sports focus on major tournaments such as March Madness.   • Oz Trails Bike Park in Bella Vista offers founding members early access on May 15 with a signature 2,500-ft chair lift ride that reaches 80 ft and covers a 300-ft elevation change. The park opens to the general public on June 12 (members can still sign up online for deals).  4029 News
