BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ EnergyWorks — a Fayetteville-based oil and gas company — acquired 731 natural gas wells in eastern Oklahoma for $65 million, making it the largest Arkansas-based operator. The deal closed in April, officials said. NWA Business Journal

- ➤ Fireworks will return to Northwest Arkansas Mall on July 4 at 9 p.m. to mark the country’s 250th birthday plus reestablish a tradition last held in 2015, with the event funded by the city’s 2% hotel, motel, and restaurant tax. 4029 News
- ➤ Opera in the Ozarks begins its season soon with three main shows—Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro, Bernstein’s Candide, and a Puccini double bill at Inspiration Point Center (16311 Hwy. 62 West). - ➤ Jacob Holmes was named the College of Engineering Outstanding Senior at U of A for his work at the food pantry and leadership on campus. - ➤ University Housing at U of A invites faculty, staff (and community members) to volunteer as Welcome Hogs during move-in week for the Class of 2030. Volunteers sign up for three-hour shifts from Wed to Sat, Aug. 5-8 and will receive a complimentary meal ticket, with registration closing on July 27. University of Arkansas
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting June 1, Fayetteville will launch a cart-based recycling program replacing small bins with blue carts for paper, cardboard and plastic while residents keep green bins for glass. Delivery of 28,000 carts is scheduled in May and Mayor Rawn will answer questions Friday, May 15 at the compost facility. 5 News

- ➤ Fayetteville police honored fallen officers and celebrated current service during National Police Week, which runs through May 17 and includes a memorial service on May 15 at the West Front of the United States Capitol. - ➤ The NCAA Softball Tournament now breaks its 64 teams into quadrants with extra seeding, and Arkansas earned the No. 5 overall seed (placing them as the second seed in their quadrant behind Nebraska).
