CULTURE NEWS

  • Fayetteville architect built a new Fine Arts Center at the University of Arkansas that once showcased Edward Hopper's 'Nighthawks' painting (part of a design legacy linked to Edward Durell Stone). EDUCATION NEWS

  • Junior Lillyanna Gigerich won the Groundwork Award at the Enclothe fashion show after U of A Libraries helped her research mental health topics and fashion design (with guidance from Kariah Brust), which shaped her project on suicide awareness.  University of Arkansas
  • The College of Education and Health Professions recognized over 100 students for academic success at its annual awards ceremony today on campus; awards such as the Presidential Scholar Award and the Hotz Awards honored students from every degree program (celebrating consistent effort and achievement).  University of Arkansas
  • U of A student Satchel Flammang earned the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship, one of 21 chosen from 3,100 applicants, and will head to Europe this fall to study biomembrane science at universities in Germany, France & Italy.  University of Arkansas
  • On May 7, the Phi Beta Kappa chapter at U of A inducted 94 new members at Hillside Auditorium; each inductee received a certificate and cords to honor their academic achievements, while two graduates (Leen Samman and Sam Sooter) were recognized as Distinguished Scholars with plans for further studies.  University of Arkansas
  • U of A's ARC Lab (AI and Robots for Connection) director Marco Dehnert is studying how humans connect with technology through experiments with social robots and research on grieving and romantic AI interactions.   • U of A Club Sports concluded a 2025–26 season with national tournament appearances and championships across multiple sports (ice hockey, rugby, lacrosse, and golf), showcasing the strength of over 900 student-athletes and 25 club teams.
