- ➤ Washington County Master Gardeners will host their annual Garden Gate Tour on June 14—featuring six local gardens in Fayetteville and near Elkins with education stations staffed by the gardeners and open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Fayetteville Flyer

- ➤ Fayetteville will start a free community forester program this summer to teach residents how to care for trees and learn about urban forestry. - ➤ The City of Fayetteville will hold a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, May 30 at 10 a.m. near the playground at 1595 N. Dartmouth Ave to begin upgrades at Bryce Davis Park. The planned improvements—new pavilions, shade structures, a dog wash station, and accessibility upgrades—stem from community input and will be carried out with temporary fencing and paths during construction. - ➤ The Planning Commission voted Tuesday night to reject a seven‐story student housing proposal in downtown Fayetteville after residents raised concerns about historic preservation, traffic, and the local environment—officials noted issues with protecting nearby heritage sites. They approved a separate project next to Fayetteville High School’s Harmon Field that will add 3,000 square feet of commercial space and 294 apartments if street and water improvements are made.
