CULTURE NEWS

  • Groups are hosting Pride events in June across Northwest Arkansas, including a resource fair & parade in Fort Smith on June 6, a festival in Eureka Springs from June 11-14, and library and Trans March events in Fayetteville on June 20 and 26, followed by a Parade on June 27.  4029 News
  • The Symphony of Northwest Arkansas announced new music director Akiko Fujimoto at its spring gala on May 28 at the Public Library. Fujimoto, praised for her musicianship during a Jan. 31 concert, will lead MainStage performances and shape the orchestra’s artistic vision.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Today, the Arkansas Air and Military Museum celebrates America's 250th birthday with public events featuring historic aircraft displays — free indoor tours of a B-25 and C-47, rides for $250 per person, vintage vendors, and a WWII-themed Canteen Evening with music, drinks and dancing.  4029 News
  • Crystal Bridges Museum expands with a 50 percent increase in gallery space and a new Learning and Engagement Hub for school groups and families, with opening weekend festivities set from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on June 6 to 7 at the Bentonville campus.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Fayetteville School Board narrowed 25 community suggestions to four finalist names for the new middle school—one set to be chosen next month for the Woodland Junior High building—which is scheduled to open fall 2027 near Joyce Boulevard and Crossover Road.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The University of Arkansas named Katheleen Guzman interim dean of its School of Law effective July 1, and she will lead for two years until a permanent dean is selected. Guzman, an alumna and former dean at the University of Oklahoma, brings strong experience (including key leadership and administrative roles).  4029 News
  • University of Arkansas named Katheleen Guzman interim dean of its School of Law to start July 1, serving a two-year term after withdrawing an earlier offer; Guzman, who worked at the University of Oklahoma, will lead until June 30, 2028 + she offers strong expertise.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

SPORTS NEWS

  • Arkansas baseball coach Dave Van Horn held a postgame press conference on Friday, recapping the Razorbacks' win over Missouri State at Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence, Kansas.   • Arkansas pitcher Hunter Dietz will take the mound today against Kansas in the NCAA Lawrence Regional winners' bracket game.   • The Northwest Arkansas Naturals will host Star Wars Night on Saturday, June 7 at Arvest Ballpark in Springdale, with first pitch at 6:35 p.m. and gates opening at 5 p.m. Fans will enjoy character appearances, themed music + fireworks after the game, while an online auction for game-worn jerseys supports Special Olympics Arkansas.  4029 News
