EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bright Ojo, a graduate student at the University of Arkansas, has been recognized for his work on supply chain resilience and national infrastructure security. He earned praise in his Strategic Management class and plans to further develop disaster-proof logistics systems to strengthen public safety.  University of Arkansas
  • Claire Walker, an honors sophomore and Cherokee Nation citizen at the University of Arkansas, was named a Morris K. and Stewart L. Udall Scholar for her leadership in tribal healthcare—she worked as a medical assistant and organized a STEM workshop to engage 200 students. She plans to study pediatric oncology to help underserved communities and will join the Udall Scholar Orientation in August.  University of Arkansas
  • UARK is accepting nominations for its sixth Leaders cohort, which will run from October to April, and staff and faculty who oversee an organizational unit with two or more direct reports must apply by 5 p.m. CDT July 15 — interviews will occur in August and selected participants will join the program with a $2,000 fee covered by their department.  University of Arkansas
  • U of A colleagues will honor Lesa Moyer at a retirement reception on June 27 from 2 to 3 p.m. in the first-floor lobby of the Global Campus building at 2 E. Center St.—she served for 16 years in roles that supported online class scheduling and campus operations.  University of Arkansas
  • The Arkansas Philological Association is inviting paper proposals on themes of confinement and freedom for its 52nd annual conference on Nov. 14-15 at the Arkansas Union on the U of A campus in Fayetteville — the deadline for proposals is now Aug. 1 and accepted presenters will pay registration fees based on their status.  University of Arkansas
  • This past spring, the School of Art at Fulbright College launched a special topics course—Design and Entrepreneurship—that paired design students with local entrepreneurs to develop branding, social media graphics, and promotional materials for early-stage businesses. The course, supported by the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation and other local partners, gave students real-world experience while helping grow Arkansas small businesses.  University of Arkansas
  • Graduate School and International Education held its inaugural meeting at the end of the spring semester to advise Dean Ed Pohl on enhancing graduate and international education. The board will meet quarterly (with virtual and in-person sessions) to strengthen ties between the campus and external partners (including notable alumni and industry professionals).  University of Arkansas
  • Pea Ridge High School students built a 32-foot gooseneck hay trailer that is now used at the 808 Ranch at the Ridge (owned by Lamar Steiger and managed by Sam Steiger).   • The Benton County Clerk's Office recorded marriage license applications from June 5 to June 11—listing couples from Bella Vista, Rogers, Bentonville and other nearby communities.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • The Arkansas Razorbacks have opened auditions for both new performers and previous anthem singers to perform the National Anthem at athletic events during the 2025—26 season—everyone must submit a recorded video via the official audition form with submissions that began on June 9.  University of Arkansas
