- ➤ Fayetteville punk rock band The Chads will perform tomorrow at George’s Majestic Lounge to launch their new album Chad to the Bone with a 7 p.m. start and a $10 admission fee. - ➤ Mayssa Hashaad, a doctoral candidate at Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences, received the James J. Hudson Doctoral Award from the Graduate School and International Education for her research on modern Egyptian women's prison narratives (an award of $1,500 given to students nearing graduation). The honor, established in 1986 in memory of professor James J. Hudson, recognizes her work on trauma, incarceration and resistance as she prepares to finish her dissertation. University of Arkansas

- ➤ Fayetteville did not break state law against sanctuary cities, city attorney Kit Williams said Friday in a letter responding to a lawmaker’s complaint over police actions during a work zone traffic stop on I-49 Tuesday—when officers arrived after the fleeing suspect had already been recaptured. The letter noted the city never acted as an immigration enforcement agent and does not interfere with federal officials. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
