CRIME NEWS

  • Jury selection is underway in the trial of a former deputy accused of manslaughter following a fatal 2023 shooting during a pursuit in Washington County—legal proceedings continue as the case moves forward.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Randal Worcester, a South Carolina man involved in a violent 2022 arrest in Crawford County, was acquitted and will be placed under the care of the Department of Human Services — a judge said he had mental health issues at the time of the incident.  4029 News
  • Bentonville — a Rogers man pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of shooting his mother with a crossbow.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents can submit feedback on the Northwest Arkansas Rail Corridor Safety Study aimed at improving safety at eight railroad crossings in Springdale and Fayetteville as the project—led by the cities and the Arkansas & Missouri Railroad—evaluates options like grade separations and upgraded safety features funded by the Federal Railroad Crossing Elimination Program. Residents may review the study online through July or attend open houses today at Springdale City Hall from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and on June 26 in Fayetteville.  City of Fayetteville
