EDUCATION NEWS

  • UA assistant professor Kevin Murach received a new NIH grant of $713,000 that will reduce his teaching load—letting him devote more time to research on exercise and aging—and fund lab expenses, travel, and collaboration with Benjamin Miller.   • The University of Arkansas hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on the ground-floor terrace of its Studio and Design Center to mark the start of building the final Gallery and Foundations Building in the Windgate Art and Design District—supported by generous donations—and the project promises expanded art programs and community access.  University of Arkansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Razorback Transit is asking local residents and the campus community to submit feedback on bus stops, service hours and shelter conditions using an online comment map by June 30.   • Fayetteville leaders will soon decide the future of the city's Housing Crisis Task Force, which was started a year ago to help with a housing shortage, and councilman D'Andre Jones said the group still has a lot to do—its proposal will be presented on July 8 after the city approved hiring a housing officer to support the mission.  4029 News
  • The Eighth Circuit ruled Tuesday that Arkansas may enforce Act 629 banning hemp-derived products with psychoactive THC levels, reversing a lower court’s injunction that stopped the law from taking effect. The case returns to the Western District of Arkansas for further proceedings — Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Attorney General Tim Griffin have been dismissed as defendants.  Arkansas Times
