CULTURE NEWS

  • Fayetteville’s Brass and Bluegrass Night will feature Sweet Magnolia on July 10 at George’s Majestic Lounge where saxophonist Meg Dwyer will sing original songs with playful lyrics about summer romance, an attic full of ghosts and a noisy neighbor — blending New Orleans brass with pop. The band, which moved local audiences last year, is set to create another lively evening for fans.  The Free Weekly
  • Memory Hole’s new film 'Animals Are Over' opens tonight at 8:30 p.m. doors and 9 p.m. show at George’s Majestic Lounge in Fayetteville—tickets cost $23.50 for this live performance that mixes found home videos into a surreal horror and comedy experience on the final stop of a short national tour.  The Free Weekly
  • Andmore Theatre Company is presenting a modern adaptation of The Importance of Being Earnest that shifts Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy to a local Arkansas setting. The play will run from July 10-12 at 7 p.m. at 3rd & Main: Music & Moore in Mulberry — tickets cost $12 and the production updates Wilde’s satire with modern language and local humor.  The Free Weekly

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Fayetteville City Council voted 7–1 Tuesday to rezone a 0.4-acre lot at 1314 S. Ellis Ave so a small cafe or shop may open on the south side, with the new rules barring vape shops and mandating business closures between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m.—local developers Siemek and Bates plan to keep the existing house on the property as they move forward with their project.  Fayetteville Flyer

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Arkansas Razorbacks face an uncertain 2025 season as coach Sam Pittman leads a team with few returning starters and many new players from the transfer portal; last season the team finished 7-6 and struggled on defense — they now face a tough schedule that includes Ole Miss, Memphis, and Notre Dame — and may only reach a .500 record.  Fayetteville Flyer
