CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Four people were arrested in Washington County on various charges; Michael Lee (49) from Fayetteville was charged Tuesday with drug delivery and held on a $10,000 bond, Jack Muller (31) from Springdale was charged Wednesday with aggravated assault and other offenses and held on a $50,000 bond, Justin Hudson (26) from Springdale was charged Tuesday with domestic battery and held on a $25,000 bond, and Matthew Daniel (39) from Fort Smith was charged Tuesday with fraud and released on a $1,500 bond. - ➤ Thaden School in Bentonville was awarded the 2025 Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize after being selected from more than 250 nominees as the only U.S. educational project to earn the honor. The project, a collaboration among Marlon Blackwell Architects, Eskew Dumez Ripple, and Andropogon Associates, uses sustainable strategies and creative spaces to enhance student learning — a win that highlights the region’s growing reputation in design. - ➤ Adnan Alrubaye, an assistant professor in Poultry Science, received the Faculty Gold Medal at an April awards reception and the NACTA Educator Award at an early June conference in recognition of his mentoring and research on broiler chicken lameness—he teaches one of U of A’s largest courses with over 450 students. - ➤ Fayetteville City Council approved a resolution Tuesday night to allocate $450,000 from the general fund to combat homelessness—city staff will review each project and work with homeless residents and shelter leaders, Mayor Molly Rawn said. 4029 News
- ➤ The Arkansas Department of Transportation received over $24 million in federal funds for the final 6.63-mile phase of the U.S. 412 Springdale Northern Bypass extending from AR 265 to U.S. 412 near Blue Springs Village. - ➤ Developer Greg House said the iconic railroad cars of the former train bank will be moved on August 1 to a new spot along the Razorback Greenway and will be renovated as Orient Express style lounge cars—part of a redevelopment plan that includes a new hotel and potential restaurant facility.
