BUSINESS NEWS

  • Fuego Tortilla Grill, a Tex-Mex restaurant, will open a new location this fall at 2190 MLK Jr Blvd in Fayetteville— the restaurant will serve tacos, breakfast tacos, and other items made with homemade tortillas and is expected to launch by late November.  Fayetteville Flyer
  • On Monday, Ryan Hauck joined Experience Fayetteville as CEO to replace Molly Rawn, who left the agency to serve as mayor—he brings tourism marketing experience from his role as executive director of Cody Yellowstone and from leadership in the energy and events sectors, with a welcome reception scheduled for August 5 at Town Center.  NWA Business Journal

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Transit and Parking and the Division of Student Affairs announced a new Safe Ride Sunday shuttle service that will launch Sunday, Aug 17, offering free rides on campus from 2 to 10 p.m. The Uber-style service will help students transport heavy items and vehicles+ it will run through the 2025-26 academic year with funding from student activity fees+ further details will be shared before launch.  University of Arkansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lee Watson, an Arkansas prison board member, stated that the board never asked for a 3,000-bed mega prison and argued that a 1,000-bed facility in western Arkansas along with smaller community correction centers would better address the overcrowding—county jails already hold 1,600 inmates. He emphasized that choosing cost-effective options is crucial to managing the state’s growing needs.  Arkansas Times

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Magnolia House, Fayetteville’s first certified passive house, was built near downtown using advanced insulation and airtight design to lower energy use by up to 80%—a method verified by Home Energy Rx. The 1,780-square-foot home cost $407,000 to build and features soundproof interiors, triple-glazed windows, and a ventilated system that brings in fresh air.  Arkansas Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Razorbacks nearly replaced their entire receiving corps due to graduation, the draft, and transfers as six new players joined and one key receiver, Ismael Cisse, underwent surgery—coach Ronnie Fouch said the team is still letting everyone earn playing time. Quarterback Taylen Green must build trust with the new group while the Hogs prepare to test their lineup on Sept. 13 against Ole Miss after a painful loss last season.  Fayetteville Flyer
