- ➤ The Tontitown Grape Festival is marking its 126th year by making 3,500 pounds of handmade spaghetti (using 10,800 eggs and 2,500 pounds of flour), a tradition begun by Italian immigrants. - ➤ Arkansas will hold a tax-free weekend on Saturday, Aug. 2, and Sunday, Aug. 3—waiving state sales taxes on qualifying clothing, footwear, school supplies, school art supplies, and school instructional materials. A backpack that normally costs $54.73 after tax will cost about $50—helping families save money on back-to-school shopping. 4029 News

- ➤ On Monday, the Arkansas Department of Education received $12,254,384 for after-school programs after a three-week delay—which is only part of over $58 million approved by Congress—with more than $45 million still withheld, causing some districts to cancel training and review staffing for the 2025-26 school year. - ➤ Core Spaces is proposing to build the Hub, a 313-unit student housing complex that will replace downtown Fayetteville’s Beverly Manor and Flats on Hill apartments, and has offered current tenants a $10,000 collective payout and first access to new units if they remain until lease termination. The developer will give at least 60 days’ notice before ending leases, with construction planned to start in April and finish by 2028—pending city and planning approvals. Fayetteville Flyer
