  • Fayetteville Animal Services will host the 11th annual Clear the Shelters pet-adoption drive from Aug. 1 through Aug. 30—adoption fees are half off to help homeless pets find new homes, and all available animals will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated at the shelter.  City of Fayetteville

CRIME NEWS

  • Arkansas State Police arrested a Springdale man at 4:57 p.m. on Wednesday—he is charged with capital murder in connection with the fatal attack on two hikers at Devil’s Den State Park on Saturday while the victims’ two daughters remained safe.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ARDOT announced that cable median barriers will be installed on I-49 from Alma through Fayetteville—using $53 million in federal safety funds—with construction already underway and set to finish by the end of August. Drivers should expect lane closures in work zones.  5 News
