- ➤ Fayetteville's Planning Commission unanimously approved a plan to transform Motel 6 on College Avenue into an independent boutique motel, renovating two main 1974 motel buildings (preserving their layout) and removing a smaller structure to add a combined gym-lobby building and pool house (with stormwater improvements). - ➤ Fayetteville City Hall is holding several public meetings this week starting today with a City Council agenda-setting session at 5:30 p.m. and a Water, Sewer and Solid Waste Committee meeting at 6:30 p.m.—additional sessions include Wednesday’s 9 a.m. Technical Plat Review and Active Transportation Advisory Committee meeting at 5:30 p.m., plus a bid opening and Historic District Commission meeting on Thursday. - ➤ The City of Fayetteville is launching Fayetteville Futures to help residents share housing ideas after receiving a planning grant from the National League of Cities in partnership with Circles NWA. The two-day event will begin on Sept. 5 from 6 to 8 p.m.—and continue on Sept. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.—at the Bailey Center at Mount Sequoyah. City of Fayetteville
- ➤ City officials in east Fayetteville and Goshen urged residents and business owners to reduce water use because dry conditions and extreme heat have lowered water pressure. The affected area east of North Crossover Road — including spots on East Mission Boulevard, East Huntsville Road and East Wyman Road— may face outages if nonessential uses continue. - ➤ The Fayetteville Utilities Department is urging residential and commercial customers in east Fayetteville and Goshen to reduce water use because dry conditions and extreme heat have increased demand and reduced water pressure — officials advise against watering lawns or filling pools to help avoid outages.
