COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Mount Sequoyah is a community gathering space off N Skyline Drive that offers scenic views, art installations, and a pottery studio. The 27-acre site has 50 structures—30 of which are historic and will host a Festival of Trees event starting on Nov. 14.  5 News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Fayetteville man died from injuries in a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle at the intersection of Apple Hill and U.S. 62 in Prairie Grove at 4:10 p.m.—police are investigating the incident and a 16-year-old was also involved.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • Police in Fayetteville are searching for a suspect who robbed a business at gunpoint on Thursday evening—he demanded money from an employee before fleeing on foot and is described as a Black male about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a stocky build wearing black shorts, a white tank top and white shoes while possibly carrying an olive green backpack.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • A Fayetteville man charged with first-degree murder waived his formal arraignment at Washington County Circuit Court Friday in connection with the shooting death of an Elkins woman.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

  • The City of Fayetteville applied a fresh white base coat to the Community Art Wall at 691 W. Poplar St yesterday to set the stage for University of Arkansas students to begin mural projects in September (the wall remains open to community art as a temporary display).  City of Fayetteville
  • Nobody 2 is a B-grade action film that stars Bob Odenkirk as a retired fixer who returns to work to pay off a bank debt and fight local criminals when his family is threatened — it opened in theaters on August 15 and mixes family drama with vivid violence.  Fayetteville Flyer

EDUCATION NEWS

  • With UAConnect retiring this fall, students now have new ID numbers in Workday and should use these for forms, scantrons, and university activities. Faculty and staff can view the new number when searching for a student in Workday (the number appears next to their name).  University of Arkansas
  • The Marinoni family donated $1.5 million to create the Professor Antonio Marinoni and Rosa Zagnoni Marinoni Endowed Chair in Italian at U of A’s Fulbright College to support the Italian program with new courses, research, and scholarships—honoring their lasting legacy in education and culture.  University of Arkansas

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Fayetteville has added three new keypad-activated food waste bins at the Public Library, Bryce Davis Park, and Veterans Memorial Park—each bin displays accepted food items and is funded by a $10,000 grant to lower contamination and turn waste into nutrient-rich compost.
