CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities have arrested three people in Northwest Arkansas – 18-year-old Saqqara Eoff in Rogers for assaulting a family member on Wednesday, 23-year-old Landis Bauer in Fayetteville for stalking on Tuesday, and 20-year-old Aveann Bender in Lincoln for assault, domestic battery and resisting arrest on Tuesday, with Eoff held without bond and Bauer and Bender at Washington County Detention Center. - ➤ Eight new students joined the Spanish M.A. program this week—marking the largest group in a decade—and they will study key ideas about books and culture to prepare for jobs in teaching, research and translation. University of Arkansas
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fayetteville will move forward with its new all-in-one, cart-based recycling program after a City Council vote on Aug. 5 despite councilwoman Teresa Turk's request to delay further review. The program will begin for residences early 2026 and the Council approved the purchase of six recycling trucks worth about $2.5 million—an effort led by environmental director Peter Nierengarten. - ➤ Specialized Real Estate Group and the city broke ground on a pocket park that covers 1.24 acres along the Razorback Greenway next to the South Yard development and will open later this fall.
