EDUCATION NEWS

  • Returning students at the University of Arkansas have waited 15 to 20 minutes for a parking spot in the green lots, even with a valid pass—officials said a new parking garage is planned with details to be announced toward the end of fall.   • The University Arkansas men's basketball team will play Memphis in a preseason exhibition on Oct. 28 at the FedEx Forum in Memphis to raise money for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital—coach John Calipari, who once led Memphis, invited all his former players for the event.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Shiloh Christian changed its game plan when Griffin Mason was injured Friday during a scrimmage with Springdale.   • Arkansas Athletics announced a three-minute countdown will appear on videoboards at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium after major wins to give visiting teams, coaches and officials time to exit safely and avoid a $500,000 fine.   • Jordan Young has returned for his fifth year with the Arkansas football team after playing for Florida and Cincinnati—he said the team felt like home and he is ready to help at nickel back.
