- ➤ Fayetteville will host a long Labor Day weekend full of events as the Razorbacks play their first football game on Saturday at 3:15 p.m.—local venues will feature music shows, a Farmers’ Market runs on Saturday morning, and a Jonas Brothers concert is planned while other activities like a theatre show and a motor race bring more excitement to town. - ➤ Fayetteville School Board member Katrina Osborne resigned because her family is moving out of state—applications to fill her Zone 4 seat will be accepted until Sept. 26 with a special meeting set for Oct. 15. The board also approved a grading permit for Ramay Junior High—preserving 1.12 acres at Happy Hollow Elementary to protect trees as the district plans groundbreaking in summer 2026 and a target opening in August 2028. - ➤ Governor Sarah Sanders announced on Aug. 27 that the Arkansas Department of Agriculture and the Northwest Arkansas Council have hired Hawkins—Weir Engineers to conduct a $1.04 million wastewater study that will guide future infrastructure investments in Northwest Arkansas. The study will follow three phases—development, engagement and implementation—to shape improvements as the region grows. NWA Business Journal
- ➤ Flooding from heavy rains that began Thursday forced homes and businesses in Fayetteville to start cleanup as water from Skull Creek rushed into properties and left muddy debris—Natalie Sayre said she saw a new lake form in the street while officials offered floodplain maps to help assess the risk. 4029 News

- ➤ SPRINGDALE—A recent auction of tax-delinquent properties raised over $1.1 million on Aug. 20 when 139 registered bidders bought 51 of 52 parcels at the Holiday Inn and NWA Convention Center.
