- ➤ The Student Employment team in the Offices of Career Connections is asking for nominations for the August Student Employee of the Month Award for student workers who work hard. Nominations can be sent until Sept. 10 — winners will get a gift and be featured on the Student Employment website — to honor job performance in August. University of Arkansas
- ➤ Mandy McClendon was named the new senior director of communications and marketing at Fulbright College effective August 25—she now leads the communications team as they shape a strategic plan to boost the college's public mission. A Fulbright College alumna with prior experience at Walmart and the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, she lives in Fayetteville with her husband and two young sons. University of Arkansas
- ➤ The University of Arkansas Latin American and Latino Studies Program will host a free talk from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 on Indigenous Guaraní resistance to colonial rule in the mid eighteenth century South America. Scholars Leonardo Cerno and Shawn Austin will discuss nine letters protesting the 1750 Treaty of Madrid during the event. University of Arkansas

- ➤ Protesters gathered along E Joyce Boulevard in Fayetteville at 3 p.m. Monday to demand better support for workers and protest federal cuts to jobs, health care and education along with tax breaks for the upper class. Organized by Indivisible NWA, the rally ended at 5 p.m. Monday — local officials noted that the issues discussed align with current city budget talks. 4029 News
