COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Fayetteville City Council approved a cost share deal for sewer lines and updated the economic development contract for the SLS Community project— a 230 acre planned community near Kessler Mountain that will support neurodiverse residents with homes, services and job training. - ➤ A 15-year-old student from Gentry was charged as an adult on Tuesday with capital murder—he was linked to the killing of a man in Siloam Springs that occurred on Friday. Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Karthik Nayani, an assistant professor of chemical engineering, received a five-year, $500,000 NSF CAREER Award to study how rod-shaped DNA moves particles within cells — his research could lead to faster disease tests and will include programs for K-12 students. University of Arkansas
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The City of Fayetteville reminds business owners to renew their licenses by Oct. 31 to avoid a $50 late fee — all businesses including mobile and home-based operations must renew. Renewals are available online through the Civic Access Portal or at a kiosk at 125 W. Mountain St. — short-term rental operators must also submit a notarized affidavit by Oct. 31. - ➤ Fayetteville City Council voted 7-0-1 Tuesday to commit $70,000 to the Salvation Army to match a federal grant for its shelter and emergency services—this funding will be used only if the grant is awarded. The move is part of Mayor Molly Rawn’s plan to address homelessness, with a budget adjustment set for September 16 to finalize the funding. Fayetteville Flyer
