CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A jury convicted Jason Lawson (arrested in 2024) on charges of first degree murder and tampering with evidence after a roommate reported Lawson killed Benjamin Martin during a heated argument; his sentencing phase will begin today at (9 a.m.). 4029 News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ RSOs and Greek chapters can nominate candidates for the 2025 Homecoming Court by 11:59 p.m. CT on Friday, Sept. 12, with nominees required to have completed 90 credit hours, maintain a 2.25 GPA, and plan to graduate in the 2025-26 academic year while seven Razorback men and seven Razorback women will later be voted on for Homecoming King and Queen. - ➤ The University of Arkansas and UAFS renewed their engineering partnership on Tuesday—extending a 24-year program that lets students earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering directly on the UAFS campus. The agreement provides guaranteed admission for those who complete pre-engineering coursework and offers strong support from both schools’ student services. University of Arkansas

- ➤ The City of Fayetteville will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at 9 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8 at the main entrance of the new 38-acre Underwood Community Park off N. Deane Solomon Road—this first phase of construction will include a playground, courts, walking paths, restrooms, pavilions and parking while the Clabber Creek Trail stays open. City of Fayetteville
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The new ALS Clinic at UAMS Northwest in Fayetteville held its ribbon cutting yesterday—officials said it will grow into a multi‐state care center for patients with the disease. Led by Dr. Rohit Dhall, the clinic offers a range of therapies that will let patients manage ALS closer to home—cutting down on long trips for specialized care. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
- ➤ Yesterday, UAMS Northwest opened its new ALS Clinic at 1125 N. College Ave. to offer specialized care for patients with ALS using larger exam and treatment rooms from the former Washington Regional Medical Center building. Funded by a $424,542 grant from the ALS Association, the clinic is set to grow as more patients from Northwest Arkansas and nearby areas seek treatment—led by neurologist Dr. Rohit Dhall.
