COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Community Creative Center in Fayetteville offers classes in ceramics, painting, drawing, leather working, sewing and more taught by local artists. It uses a custom-built Winnebago bus—fitted with nine pottery wheels—to bring pottery directly to residents at the Walton Arts Center's Nadine Baum Studios.  5 News

CRIME NEWS

  • A Fayetteville man was sentenced to more than 40 years in prison — he was convicted in the 2024 fatal stabbing of his roommate — on Friday.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Fayetteville campus employees, graduate assistants, and Division of Agriculture GAs must now submit tuition payroll deduction requests directly through Workday by 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 10—this ensures payroll deductions are ready for the fall semester.  University of Arkansas
  • A new 2+2 agreement lets students spend two years at UARM earning an Associate of Arts in Teaching before transferring to Fayetteville to complete a Bachelor of Science in Education. College officials said the deal offers a clear and affordable path to teacher certification—reflecting a strong commitment to Arkansas education.  University of Arkansas
  • Chancellor emeritus G. David Gearhart and his wife Jane donated $50,000 to expand the Honors College Path Program—supporting first-generation and financially needy students. Their gift builds on a long legacy to help more U of A students access honors education.  University of Arkansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Experience Fayetteville’s CEO Ryan Hauck was placed on paid administrative leave on Friday after five hours of discussion by the Advertising and Promotion Commission, which oversees the city’s tourism bureau. The commission said an independent review of an internal personnel matter will be conducted—no interim CEO will be named during the probe.  Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • A judge ruled Friday that the commission did not act in a random or unfair way when it denied Tontitown’s appeal over the permit to expand the Eco-Vista Landfill—upholding the legal process.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Experience Fayetteville's CEO Ryan Hauck was placed on paid administrative leave Friday after a five-hour meeting by the Fayetteville Advertising and Promotion Commission—an investigation by an independent third party will follow while the agency continues operations with no interim CEO appointed.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
