ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Today a 72-year-old Ozark man named Vernon Patton was attacked by a bear while working on his land near Mulberry Mountain Lodge—about 2 miles north of Cass—and he was flown to Washington Regional Medical Center for surgery before a planned transfer to UAMS, with his family saying he is not expected to survive. - ➤ Fayetteville police placed officers Jason Bailey and Joseph Burns on paid administrative leave after they exchanged gunfire with 42-year-old Brandon J. Poulter at The Cliffs apartments Sunday at 11:54 a.m.—the suspect was killed during the standoff and both the Fayetteville Police Department and Arkansas State Police began investigations. - ➤ The U of A Service Learning Initiative is seeking a social media management intern for a paid role that requires 5 to 10 hours of work per week—applications must be submitted via Handshake by Sept. 19 with work starting on Nov. 3.
