- ➤ The Arkansas Integrative Metabolic Research Center will host Brian Cunniff for a seminar on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 10:45 a.m. in BELL 2267 to explain how the positioning of mitochondria affects gene-expression patterns — those unable to attend in person can join via Zoom. University of Arkansas
- ➤ Wendell Scales, a U of A doctoral student from Bumpers College, was one of eight cultivators selected to present at the Farm Foundation Round Table meeting in summer—he stressed the need for early AgriSTEM pathways and youth mentorship in agriculture. He also serves as co-adviser for U of A’s Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences organization and urged land-grant institutions to invest in youth development. - ➤ The mentoring program at the Ralph E. Martin Department of Chemical Engineering celebrated its fifth year on Sept. 2 with a record number of students and alumni mentors, and over 70 alumni have guided students through the program — a sign of strong ties between past and current students.
