- ➤ Commercial vacancy in Northwest Arkansas rose from 5.8% to 7.2% in the first half of 2025 as more warehouse, retail and office spaces became available. Arvest Bank and CBER said the market stays healthy—building permits reached $290.2 million as non-Walmart development grew. NWA Business Journal

- ➤ Eli Cranor—an Edgar Award-winning writer and former professional football player born in Forrest City—will speak at Six Bridges Book Festival from Sept. 28 to Oct. 5 and discuss his new crime novel Mississippi Blue 42 about an FBI rookie caught in college football greed. Arkansas Times
- ➤ Local artists Dana Idlet and Noah Richmond will host the Old Friends Reunion music festival near Prairie Grove from Sept. 25 to Sept. 28. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ University of Arkansas joined the Mid-South I‑Corps Hub with 11 partner institutions in five states to boost research and help ideas move from the lab to market. The collaboration will offer training and commercialization programs that support faculty, students and researchers in driving regional economic growth. University of Arkansas
- ➤ On Sept 19, Arkansas unveiled a new school grading system that gave Fayetteville schools mostly A’s and B’s—nine schools earned an A, six received a B, and one got a C. The updated method, based on student achievement and growth under the LEARNS Act and the ATLAS system, replaces the old statewide testing structure. Fayetteville Flyer

- ➤ Local attorney Kristin Pawlik announced her candidacy for the Division 2 circuit judge seat in Washington & Madison counties as Judge John Threet will retire in December and the nonpartisan judicial election is set for March 3. The Fayetteville native brings over two decades of legal experience & once served as president of the Arkansas Bar Association. Fayetteville Flyer
- ➤ Fayetteville is inviting proposals to change four city-owned properties into mixed-income housing; requests for proposals will be open until Nov. 18 and selected teams will be able to lease or buy the land. Mayor Molly Rawn said the plan should lower land costs, helping people earning less than 60% of the area's median income access affordable homes (the four parcels cover about 16 acres across two wards).
