- ➤ Big Gay Halloween event will take place at Ozark Music Hall on Oct 18 from 7 to 11:30 p.m.—organized by Big Gay Market, the celebration will include music, drag performances, trivia and treats with tickets sold for $29.36. Fayetteville Flyer
- ➤ Fayetteville’s downtown arts corridor—the Ramble—will host three free, family-friendly events this fall with a film screening on Oct. 24, trick-or-treating on Oct. 31 that includes a block closure on S. West Ave., and a Día de los Muertos promenade on Nov. 7. Community organizations can apply by Oct. 21 to host candy stations and join in the festive celebrations. City of Fayetteville

- ➤ The University of Arkansas held its annual Innovator Awards Banquet on Oct. 1 to honor eight U.S. patent recipients and induct Pradeep Kumar, Xianghong Qian and Ryin Tian into the National Academy of Inventors. Chancellor Charles Robinson and vice chancellor Margaret McCabe praised the innovators—whose work drives research and economic strength—as a foundation for future advancements. University of Arkansas
- ➤ U of A presented a virtual reality campus tour at the Digital Collegium Annual Conference in September to help new students explore residence halls before arriving—this tool was shown to reduce stress and boost confidence, especially for students with disabilities and those new to college. - ➤ Student Involvement and Leadership and the Associated Student Government announced the top 20 Homecoming Queen and King candidates who advanced to the interview stage for the final seven spots. The Homecoming Royalty election runs Oct. 23 to Oct. 29 and finalists will be announced at the Chancellor's Ball on Oct. 22 at George's Majestic Lounge in downtown Fayetteville. - ➤ Justin Jones, a math tutor and owner of Tutoring Solutions, was chosen by a 6-0 school board vote to fill the vacant Zone 4 seat after Katrina Osborne moved out of state. - ➤ University of Arkansas students are holding a No Kings Day protest today from noon to 2 p.m. at the Arkansas Union Mall while UAPD officers stand ready nearby to monitor the event—ensuring peaceful activism as part of a larger nationwide movement and with a separate rally in Rogers scheduled for Saturday morning. 4029 News

- ➤ The University of Arkansas football team is 2—4 with no wins in SEC play and now has interim head coach Bobby Petrino after Sam Pittman was fired following a 56—13 loss to Notre Dame. Quarterback Taylen Green has tallied strong yardage but turned the ball over several times, and the Razorbacks will face a tough SEC schedule as they try to improve their season.
