ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters responded at 7:59 a.m. on Wednesday morning and quickly put out a blaze at The Bodhi Tree Salon & Spa on South Ray Avenue in Fayetteville—no injuries were reported and the building’s front showed no damage.  Fayetteville Flyer

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Herman's Ribhouse in Fayetteville is for sale as owners Nick and Carrie Wright announced on Wednesday—hoping the new owner will carry on the legacy of the dining establishment that opened in 1964 and became a local favorite.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • Locals Cory and Lyndsy Jacobs will open a Goodcents sandwich shop at 3059 N. College Ave inside Fiesta Square, taking over the space that once housed Berry Natural & marking the chain's third location in Arkansas. EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville’s College of Engineering tested a full-scale steel beam against simulated earthquake forces on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to assess its performance under stress. The experiment pushed the steel near its breaking point—its results may help guide future building safety standards.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
  • The new Mullins Library Makerspace on Level 2 now welcomes U of A students, faculty and staff to explore a variety of creative tools—from sewing machines to 3D printers—after completing required training. Some equipment, such as the laser cutter and soldering stations, requires reservations while walk-ins can use others during operating hours.  University of Arkansas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Fayetteville city council voted to apply for a $60,000 grant to fund a pilot program that will use community ideas to renovate vacant homes and create workforce training opportunities—named Development Squared after a local workshop. City staff and partners plan to launch the initiative in January to boost affordable housing for low to moderate income families.  5 News
  • U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford of the 1st District introduced the Bridge the Gap for Rural Communities Act—this law gives farmers an option for a 50% partial payment by Dec. 1 to ease financial stress until full relief is available. The measure, endorsed by the Arkansas Bankers Association, is designed to support rural farmers facing urgent challenges.  Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette
