- ➤ About 12 walkers from Bentonville began a three-day, 30-mile walk—Walk With Us: A Pilgrimage for Homes—to raise funds and awareness for New Beginnings and help end homelessness. They started the walk on Thursday and will finish at Walker Park Saturday with an open house and meal. 4029 News
- ➤ Fayetteville Public Library will host an allergy-friendly Halloween party on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon—families will enjoy allergy-conscious trick-or-treat stations, bounce houses, and character meet-and-greets—with proceeds benefiting the library. Fayetteville Flyer

- ➤ The Fayetteville School Board approved a bond resolution for up to $178.1 million to fund school projects including Woodland Junior High, the conversion of Colbert Middle, and a high school parking garage scheduled for completion by 2027. The board also set a March 3 election to request a six-year millage extension (45 mills) and approved a sustainability plan for new buildings to earn environmental certifications. - ➤ Six African lions rescued from a failing roadside zoo in Canada arrived at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs on Oct. 14. - ➤ Sales tax revenue from Bentonville, Fayetteville, Rogers and Springdale rose to $10.244 million in October—a 6.18% increase from last year. Fayetteville earned $2.971 million while the cities reached a year-to-date total of $97.296 million. NWA Business Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials reopened the expanded drop-off and pick-up lanes at XNA on Oct. 22 to give visitors a smoother experience as part of a $34 million Terminal Modernization Project that started in 2023. The project will finish with a new front entrance, canopy, and updated elevators, escalators, and stairwells—final touches are expected by year-end into 2026. 5 News
- ➤ A water line broke on Thursday on the University of Arkansas campus and some buildings lost water pressure—city crews worked to repair the break with no set time for completion. 4029 News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville announced Thursday that it will assume operations of Northwest Health Physicians’ Specialty Hospital on Dec. 1—renaming it Washington Regional Physicians’ Specialty Hospital— to boost capacity for same-day surgeries and overnight care. The 20-bed facility will support more emergency services and expanded surgical procedures as details are shared with staff and patients. NWA Business Journal
