- ➤ Fayetteville Mayor Molly Rawn joined a national hunger effort by launching a citywide non-perishable food drive on Oct. 29 to support local food pantries—residents were directed to drop off shelf-stable items at City Hall, police headquarters, and fire stations. City of Fayetteville
- ➤ Fayetteville will host the SLS Dash 5k and Fun Run for Neurodiversity on Nov. 8 at Kessler Mountain Regional Park starting at 9 a.m. — the event includes a 5K race, a 1-mile fun run, music, food, and a superhero costume theme to support SLS Community programs. Fayetteville Flyer
- ➤ Events in Northwest Arkansas will take place from October 31 to November 2 at locations including Rogers, Centerton, Springdale and others. They include a candy crawl, trunk-or-treats, farmers markets and Día de Muertos celebrations—giving families a range of fun activities to enjoy. 5 News
- ➤ Fayetteville launched a citywide food drive on Wednesday as part of Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to collect nonperishable items at City Hall, the Police Department Headquarters or any fire station for local food pantries. Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced the Take Good Care Food Drive, accepting donations at ArkansasBlue Welcome Centers until Nov. 14 — a statewide effort addressing food insecurity amid rising living costs. - ➤ A driver in Fayetteville failed to yield at Holt Middle School and hit a 10-year-old’s foot, while in Bentonville a car struck a student riding a bike near Bright Field Middle School—both incidents received medical care as local officials reported. Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette

- ➤ Fayetteville-based Ozark Charcuterie—partnering with SREG and Modus Studio—will open a new cheese and wine shop inside First Street Flats in downtown Rogers in spring and already runs a location on E. Mountain St. in Fayetteville. Los Angeles-based Sweetgreen announced its Bentonville restaurant will open on November 25 while a new Fayetteville store will open later this year at 542 W. - ➤ Nick and Carrie Wright confirmed on Oct.22 via Facebook that their famed restaurant Herman’s Ribhouse is up for sale after its induction into the Arkansas Food Hall of Fame in 2024. - ➤ A U of A student startup won a pitch competition at Vanderbilt for its pain-free strep test and received $10,000. The team will use the prize money for validation studies and to move toward clinical trials. University of Arkansas

- ➤ Local storyteller Gustav Carlson turns ghost stories and Arkansas folklore into his new comic series ‘Backwood Folk’ that features spooky secrets set in a fictional town called Po'Dunk — the series is available in Springdale, Fayetteville, and Bentonville. The Free Weekly

- ➤ On Oct. 22, researchers at the University of Arkansas College of Engineering tested a full-scale steel seismic connection at the Grady E. Harvell Civil Engineering Research and Education Center+ the live test simulated extreme earthquake forces. University and state leaders watched the demonstration+ the data will help update building codes to improve safety. University of Arkansas
- ➤ Fayetteville Public Schools requested that nearly 27 wooded acres on the east side of College Avenue be rezoned for a new Ramay Junior High School, and the Planning Commission approved the proposal in a 7-1 vote, sending it to the City Council for further action. The district plans to use 20 owned acres along with 7 under contract as part of a larger plan to create new school facilities opening for the 2028-29 school year. Fayetteville Flyer

- ➤ Fayetteville's Lady Bulldogs came from behind for a 3–0 win over Cabot in the state volleyball semifinals at Panther Arena.
