- ➤ Fayetteville Animal Services will start its Season of Thankfulness on Nov. 1 to offer activities that support shelter pets. The event features a fourth annual Kongsgiving where residents donate specific items + a week for short-term dog fosters with waived adoption fees for those who adopt their foster-pup, and applications are due by Nov. 20. - ➤ Devonte Daniel, a Walton College student from Marked Tree, is on track to graduate in May and is working on his master's in supply chain management—last May he was offered a sales internship at United Rentals where he plans to stay after graduation. University of Arkansas
- ➤ Northwest Technical Institute in Springdale celebrated its 50th anniversary yesterday and held a ribbon-cutting for its new 19,800-square-foot, $3.5 million ammonia refrigeration and boiler training facility—local and state leaders and industry experts praised the facility for meeting the region’s growing demand for skilled labor in technical fields. - ➤ The Beaver Watershed Alliance announced on Oct. 30 that it received a $618,235 grant to support smart growth and water protection in the Beaver Lake watershed. - ➤ The Arkansas women’s basketball team began its new era under coach Kelsi Musick with an exhibition game at Bud Walton Arena against UAFS—posting strong scoring runs and forcing many turnovers.
