- ➤ The campus community is invited to honor U.S. veterans with several upcoming events including a parade and trade show on Nov.8 at 11 a.m. along Dickson Street, a Veterans Day Ball on Nov.10 from 5 to 7:30 p.m., and a breakfast plus celebration on Nov.11 at campus venues—each event offering a way to thank those who served. - ➤ Jim Singleton— a lifelong farmer from Gravette with a nearly 25-year tenure in banking— has led Arvest Bank’s local branch since 2001 and makes agricultural loans to area farmers. - ➤ Zero Hour Arkansas and Campus Climate Network will host a social justice training weekend on November 8 and 9 at the Multicultural Center Classroom in the Arkansas Union to support the SELF Campaign. The event will teach students how to build coalitions and take focused action on campus—helping youth organizers learn new skills. University of Arkansas
- ➤ Professor Wan Shou from the University of Arkansas has been awarded more than $246,000 from the NSF through its EAGER program to study a 3D printing technique for semiconductor production—he will explore how silicon melts and solidifies to help create chips faster and more efficiently. - ➤ On Oct 29, the University of Arkansas held its fourth annual Disability Awareness Awards Ceremony to honor campus advocates for accessibility + award winners included Synetra Hughes, Michael Stoker, and Stacey Moore from staff, Suzanne Kucharczyk from faculty, and Dr. Mary A. - ➤ Lt. Col. Sydney Roberts—professor of military science and commander of the University of Arkansas Army ROTC—is set to speak at a Veterans Day Luncheon hosted by the Armed Forces Employees and Colleagues Resource Group on Tuesday, November 11 at the Arkansas Union Ballroom. - ➤ University Libraries released the new edition of Inquiry: The University of Arkansas Undergraduate Research Journal Volume 25, Issue 1 that shows outstanding student research across many fields. The journal introduced a Best Paper Award that went to Haven Clements for her work on limb regeneration in damselflies — she will receive a cash prize from the Office of Nationally Competitive Awards.
